Ashanti glass bead necklace with gold-plated brass pieces, sprinkled with a touch of color. These Ashanti beads are made by the Ashanti people, part of the Akan group in Ghana. They are made using a technique of pulverized glass deposited into clay molds and baked in ovens. Often, a cassava stalk is used to create the hole for the bead, which burns during the process. The beads, often called "Talking Beads," can represent status, spirituality, and are used to express traditional values.
Materials: Ashanti glass, Hematite, Amazonite, Agate, shell, Turquoise, steel and brass.
Length: 44-50cm
